The Doug Coombs Foundation is entering its 3rd winter providing skiing to children from low socio-economic families living in Teton County, Wyoming.
This winter the DCF will provide skiing for over 100 children. The majority of these children are in their 2nd or 3rd year of the skiing program offered by our Foundation. The DCF provides tuition, lift tickets, and ski equipment to all children enrolled in our programs.
103 children are skiing through the Doug Coombs Foundation this winter.
84 children are skiing with the Snow King Sports School every Saturday.
13 children children are enrolled in the Snow King Sports School’s Alpine Ski Racing program, skiing once a week throughout the winter.
2 children are enrolled in their 2nd winter ski racing program with the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club.
4 teenagers who learned to ski through the DCF are now enrolled in the Snow King Ski School apprentice program. Through the program, they will learn to become professional ski instructors and serve as mentors for the DCF children.
16 parents of current DCF kids are learning to ski.
By teaching parents to ski, this will provide the opportunity for DCF families to ski together at Snow King. In addition this will increase the safety of the children as they ski at Snow King on their own by having parents on the hill skiing.
8 children learned to rock climb with Exum Mountain Guides rock climbing program in July. This is an exciting new relationship with Exum Mountain Guides and the DCF, thanks to the generosity of the owners of Exum. This program, which will continue to offer rock climbing instruction in Grand Teton National park to DCF children will also provide them the opportunity to experience the magnificence of the Tetons.
25 children were enrolled in the Jackson Hole Youth Soccer program during the Spring, Summer, and Autumn soccer season. Many of these children played on competitive soccer teams. Our soccer program is offered to all DCF children throughout the non-skiing months in order to provide the opportunity for the children to remain integrated with their peers throughout the year, in addition to preparing them physically and mentally for the ski season.
All of the above programs have been made possible by donations from people like yourselves who care about the well-being of these children: they would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in the fantastic sports programs offered in Jackson Hole, further isolating them from their peers in school and limiting their opportunity to live an active life in the outdoors.
Thank you for your continued support!
You have helped to make many children happy!
Happy New Year from the Doug Coombs Foundation!
